Many employer benefit plans cover all or part of the costs of occupational therapy, even for home assessments and personal use either through regular health benefits or via health spending accounts.  Ask your employer if your workplace offers coverage.

It's also important to note that:

• If you have a work-related illness or injury, occupational therapy services may be provided upon referral, by Workers Compensation.
• If you have an illness or injury from a motor vehicle accident, occupational therapy services may be covered under your auto insurance plan.
• If you are receiving long term disability income from an insurance program, your program may cover occupational therapy services.
• If you are a Canadian armed forces veteran, the Department of Veteran Affairs may cover occupational therapy services​.

Finally, don't forget that occupational therapy is GST exempt!
